FUNKY CAKES in GOA

A football cake with Messi but as my fondant and white chocolate was over I had to make him a lying down figure. But the birthday boy was more than thrilled to see his favourite team logo and player on his cake.

For a dear friend who started out abstaining from non-veg products, I made this egg less cake. I found the recipe online and I tweaked it like I always do with cake recipes. The cake was moist and chocolaty.

It's very difficult deciding what king of cake to make a boy on his teens as its a fluctuating choice. For our fav teen I finally came up with this.

I love a challenge but at times I cannot do justice if the climate conditions fail. I had a beautiful floral print that I had to bring out in a cake and it started raining so my gum paste flowers started sweating. Nopes, I do not have a dehumidifier as yet... First result..Incomplete cake with sliding flowers..boohoooo Improv. cake after taking out all the side adornments and redoing the frosting. Top view.

Sometimes I get a little ...... when I'm bored. There was a sweet 5 year old's birthday and I found out that he loved Shaun the sheep...Initially I didn't have any idea who that was until I went online. Here's the end result. I made a fresh fruit cake with a combo of colours and a layer of cream and fruits at the center.

One of our fav people loves growing veggies and fruits in the field so I thought it apt to make her a cake with miniature veggies and fruits on it. Can you guess the veggies and fruits?

Amidst speculation I decided to do a wedding cake...Probably my first and last as it involves too much of planning and if you have no other commitments it turns out great ..if you do....you go crazzzzzzyy...Here's the outcome.

I have been away. Been awfully busy with a load of stuff. Here are pix of two cakes I have baked during my being away time. Enjoy. Will upload more pix in a couple of days.

I have never been a fan of fruit cake. But when I was asked to make one, I had no option. I browsed the net for a recipe that was right. After trying several, I fell for the Caribbean Black Fruitcake recipe. And marzipan icing completes the cake. Another cake I made months back. 

  I made a cheat's version of the Tiramisu and it was good. Meringue topped with strawberries and cream..yummmm Fig and cream pie. I used a sugar-free crust recipe. The sweetness of the figs and brown sugar that I added in the topping really worked well.

My last post was in the old year. Now it's Feb 2015 and high time that I upload some pix. Here are pix of a cake I made for my dad in October for his birthday. He loves gardening. I made him a fresh fruit layer cake.
