EXOTIC FRESH FRUIT CAKE

Now is the season for a variety of fruits to choose from. It's was my darling's 35th birthday and I wanted to venture away from my regular chocolate cake. So I decided to do something really different and made a moist white cake. I layered it with fruits: fine slices of green grapes, purple grapes, strawberries, mango and  figs. Here's the big cake for my big man. It was loved by all.

Honestly speaking when there are no cakes to bake I get bored..really bored... It was a neighbour's birthday. His cake was ordered somewhere but I wanted to make him something special as he had just purchased his first car. I had to ice the cake in a hurry ...like in 2 hours finish decorating. Here's the finished result. (Please excuze the backgound of the pics. Had to click the pix in a hurry)

PRAWN RISSOIS or RISSOIS DE CAMARAO

I've been meaning to make prawn rissois after years altogether. I found the recipe in Joyce's (the famous Goan cookbook writer) Recipe Book. I tweaked it with some additions here and there and the rissois were scrumptious .

MANGO TRES LECHES CAKE

My cousin loves mango cake. So decided that I would make something different for her birthday. A cake as well as a dessert. I had made the tres leches cake before so decided to incorporate mango flavour. The outcome was delicious. Here are some pics. This recipe is really worth a try. Holler if you want it.  

WHISKY BOTTLE in a BOX CAKE

After the BLACK DOG Bottle cake I prepared, this is my attempt at a Johnnie Walker Whisky bottle cake. The recipe that I used contains no chocolate as my earlier whisky cake recipe . I made use of printed sheets to achieve the bordered flower design on dark chocolate. There are white chocolate curls in the box. This cake recipe too got finger licking results.
